Position Overview
Santis Health, a leading consultancy specializing in communications, public affairs and strategy within the health care sector, is looking to hire a Director of Communications. Based in our Toronto office, this hybrid role requires an ambitious, motivated individual with a passion for strategic communications and a strong leadership presence. As a leader in the Santis Communications Practice, the Director will work closely with the team to build and deliver communications solutions that elevate both Santis Health and its clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee client accounts, developing and executing high-impact strategic communication plans.
- Manage a project team, providing leadership, mentorship, and guidance to direct reports.
- Ensure seamless execution of client deliverables by overseeing budgets, forecasting, resource allocation, and timelines.
- Drive business growth by implementing a business plan.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with health care clients.
- Provide strategic counsel on media relations, stakeholder engagement, and crisis communications.
- Build trust and credibility with clients and senior leadership through expert guidance and proactive problem-solving.
- Lead business development initiatives, including strategy development and proposal writing, specifically focused on pharmaceutical companies.
Qualifications
- 7 to 10 years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, or a related field.
- Consulting or agency experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or a related discipline.
- Proven success at a senior level in developing and managing communications strategies across multiple channels.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with leadership, clients, and stakeholders while managing multiple projects and deadlines.
- Expertise in communications in a health setting, particularly within the pharmaceutical sector.
- Understanding of the Pharmaceutical Advertising Advisory Board (PAAB) and Ad Standards Canada.
- Strong project management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and resource planning.
- Exceptional communication and presentation abilities.
Required Skills
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills (including PowerPoint / G-Suite proficiency).
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple clients, projects, and competing deadlines.
- Strong prioritization, time management, and problem-solving abilities, particularly on complex and sensitive issues
- Ability to independently drive client projects forward while proactively identifying and addressing needs.
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Professionalism and the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
